About ink, how much you know?

There are a variety of ink applying in our daily life. Which kind of ink you know?

As a learner in sublimation field, i am getting familiar with below three kinds of ink.

1. Dye ink

Day ink is molecule soluble and complete composite solution. It is not waterproof and easy to resolve and printed color will be faded quickly and obviously under the ultraviolet rays within a month. It is usually used for printing picture card, name card.

2. Pigment ink

Pigment ink can be resisted from ultraviolet rays resolving and lightfastness thanks to its strong waterproof in itself. It can maintain over a year for obvious colorfastness under the outdoor activity.

However, there will be color residual in most of pigment ink which may result in no glossy printing image.

In addition, the cost of pigment ink is higher. Therefore, the price is twice to four times higher than dye ink. Generally, it is applying in cotton printing.

3. Sublimation ink

The image printed by sublimation ink is bright and vivid in color, and its effects can be compared favorably with printing. The difference is that heat transfer is being sublimated by sublimation ink under the high temperature and pressure, penetrated into the surface of object. It can be a customized image after sublimation. Therefore, it won't form a coating on the surface and the image won't fall off and crack as well. Furthermore, it's colorfast for a long time thanks to its strong lightfastness.

It is widely used for sublimation printing in ceramic mug, plate, glass, metal boards, key chain, tile, etc.
